EC ALBUM ' CITICORPSE' RELEASED 2007, PREDICTIONS WERE SHOCKINGLY ACCURATE!

The EC album 'Citicorpse' along with EC website content at that time and this page are dedicated to the memory of U.S. Army Special Forces soldier, Daniel A. Romero and the many U.S. and ally soldiers like him who have paid the ultimate price for freedom in Afghanistan and other places around the world. 

EC founders, Andrew and Bobby's grandfather, devoted thirty-nine years of honorable service to his nation, as a U.S. Army soldier, including: tours in Korea and Vietnam; he was a recipient of the purple heart and numerous other military metals and commendations.  Additionally, this writing is a memorial to all the brave men and women who are now or have ever served the cause of freedom on behalf of all free people. 

The explanation below was added to the EC website to give fans an insight into EC's motivation for recording the album 'Citicorpse.' 

NO U.S. BAND MORE PATRIOTIC THAN ELCTRIKCHAIR

EC's song, 'For Sand or For Oil' challenged the misrepresentations of an administration willing to use misinformation to motivate it's citizenship to thirst for blood and revenge.  We were told that weapons of mass destruction existed in Iraq, many of America's best lost their lives or returned home to live with the scars of war, no weapons of mass destruction were ever found.  Our only hope now is that no U.S. war veteran will ever be homeless, hungry or denied the best medical care and that no U.S. military decision to engage in war will ever be based upon misrepresentation or assumption.  Regardless, all Iraq War Veterans deserve our greatest honor and respect, they answered when their nation summoned, their patriotism is unconditional. Clearly, this was not a war for sand.  The purpose of this war was to protect U.S. strategic oil reserves. 

EC FIRST TO PREDICT ECONOMIC COLLAPSE AND TO CALL-OUT BULLIES

Even the band would be stunned to discover just how accurate their predictions were. 

EC's album 'Citicorpse' was recorded prior to any sign of the near economic collapse, the Wall Street debacle and the series of media stories highlighting inherent U.S. corporate corruption. 

The story of David and Goliath took on new meaning, David never had to sling his stone, Goliath dropped dead from a self-induced stress related heart attack before David had a chance to use his weapon.  But for all his misdeeds, Goliath's surviving co-conspirators were never prosecuted.  Instead, they were given a wealth of taxpayer bailout money and used the unanticipated windfall to distribute undeserved and unearned bonuses to the very parties responsible for our near economic collapse.

We were especially amused by a television commercial run by our nation's credit bureaus in the aftermath of the economic disaster.  The commercial featured two (pretty) tall young [Ken-like] characters with a third short balding middle-class looking one.  Now that the credit bureaus have advertised Ken, we wonder when they intend to feature Barbie.  As for the short balding guy, he must be the only 'real' representation in the commercial, the fleeced American taxpayer. 

EC music warned that bullying is a root cause of suicide and murder in our schools. After Columbine, some in the media denied the existence of bullying, others scoffed at EC's effort to capture their attention before it was too late.  Sadly, more innocent children are dead because arrogant and stubborn people refused to listen.   

CONTROVERSIAL SONG 'MONSTERS AMONG US'

In the immediate aftermath of the Columbine tragedy it took no thought to feel the deepest sympathy for victims and their families.  EC's song 'Monsters Among Us' includes the line 'C and H took control.'  C stood for 'chaos' and H was a reference to the 'horror' that was the Columbine tragedy.  

EC understood the 'why' when most adults didn't because EC had witnessed the misfit get slammed into the locker, punched, ridiculed and laughed at continuously for no reason.  EC knew angry rejected kids whose parents gave them plenty of money but none of their time or affection.  They'd watched the kid that was different be put down and destroyed in public and private schools (EC attended both).  This wasn't rare, it was routine.  Adults witnessed many of these bashings but for various political and selfish reasons never acted to protect the student victims.  The outcast subculture was born.  Interestingly, nearly all of the public and private school shootings have been committed by kids from economically advantaged families, yet the watchful eyes of homeland security focuses on middle-class or poor blacks and hispanics.  If my recollection serves me well, the Oklahoma City bombers looked more like the Columbine murderers.  In fairness, the 911 attack on America was orchestrated by cowardly middle eastern politcal radicals not peaceful Americans of middle eastern descent.  The point is that; race doesn't appear to be the issue, so why do we insist upon the absurdity of racial profiling without facts to support the erroneous, unjust, absurd and damaging inflamatory conclusions? 

But do unending mental and physical abuses ever justify insanity?  Yes.  Insanity isn't logical, it defies reason, it's a human personality explosion.  Battered and abused human beings have a breaking point.  Any human being subjected to condemnation or humiliation like (having milk poured over their heads while classmates laugh) has a breaking point.  Rarely, if ever, can that point be recognized before it occurs.  The question asked in the aftermath is always, why?  The answer is also 'why' didn't people in authority act to protect student victims from peer and adult bullies?  

EC's song is painful to the ear because it hides nothing, it doesn't candy coat reality.  Of course EC, like every common-sense person; agonizes and feels genuine sorrow for all of the victims and their families.  But EC recognized a society that was and continues to be blind to its contribution to the most horrifying event in U.S. history.

EC tries desperately to put people in touch with their own potential for contributing to similar outcomes.  The heavy metal account sounds angry and insane because it is an unbridled ugly reflection of the volcanic rage that was Columbine.  If listeners take time to understand this song, truly understand it; the 'why' lurking in the darkness is exposed.

The prevailing question in the immediate aftermath of the Columbine tragedy was, why?  Monsters Among Us attempts to answer this question; not from the perspective of a blind society but from the eyes of two sociopaths, deranged killers. 

Mention of victims names isn't an attack upon them.  Rather it is a metaphoric slap upside the heads of listeners to 'pay attention' to 'tune in.'  The references to 'their f...ing lives' is a metaphor for how the killers had become insensitive to human compassion and lost all appreciation for life. 

In the face of such a horrendous event, there is no justification for commercializing the victims.   But that's what happened in at least one instance.  The media sensationalized the murder of a child by fabricating these inflamatory words, 'Do you believe in God?' then representing their creation as a quote of one of the victims before she was murdered.   A book was written and commercial money was paid to promote a story on prime time news that was founded in fiction. The result was; a fanning of the flames of an outraged society, that was desperately seeking someone or some group to blame; a modern lynch mob. 

These and similar events had the impact of unfairly devaluing the lives of the victims and their families and pointing the finger at innocent people, gothic kids, heavy metal artists and fans that wore contemporary clothing.  It'll never be known for certain but EC's opinion is that the shooters didn't kill indiscriminately, they killed people they felt had wronged them or laughed at them when they were being mistreated.  The killers warned at least one student to stay away that day.   

Elctrikchair brilliantly exposes the ugly truth behind the question.  Why?   Elctrikchair attended the memorial services held at a nearby park, to remember the victims of Columbine and in so doing joined hands with many others, to begin the long and difficult process of healing a nation that will forever be scarred.  For anyone who was offended, unfortunately offending some was unavoidable if EC's message was to have purpose, value and meaning.  But critical personalities should keep in mind that Elctrikchair has toured throughout the United States and been an active part of the metal music scene while the majority of those willing to express opinions have never left their livingroom couches and mistakenly rely upon the media and neighborhood gossip to inform them.  Let me say that once again, 'mistakenly rely upon the media and neighborhood gossip for information.'    

EC'S PROTEST SONG, 'DEAD CHILDREN'

Elctrikchair, by virtue of its music genre, is at the forefront of misfits, the disenfranchised, the devalued, the social rejects and the disrespected.  DEAD CHILDREN is EC's political protest against the killing of innocent children in various locations around the world.  These children know nothing of politics.  They only understand fear, death and destruction.  They are often referred to by news media and others as 'collateral damage' or what can otherwise be understood as someone's mistake.   But these are real children, EC brings their fear, agony and cries for help to the forefront of its audience.  The message is that; 'nothing justifies the indiscriminate killing (murder) of innocent children, NOTHING.'  Ironically, conservatives claiming to be anti-abortion were at the forefront of foreign policy that led to bombing (killing) innocent children.  No policy Democratic, Republican or other that results in dead children is ever justified.     

WARNINGS DISMISSED AND IGNORED, NO ONE'S LAUGHING NOW

Citicorpse, raw and offensive by some standards, was a courageous warning that revealed everything before exposing it was socially acceptable and before most were willing to listen.

The irony is that shortly after this explanation was written Citicorp fka Citibank nka Citi was on the brink of failing but for its rescue by American taxpayers, Citi may no longer exist.  Was it rescued because America couldn't live without it as was proclaimed by the media or was it rescued because most of its stockholders are members or former members of the U.S. Congress or its army of retired and active lobbyists and their affiliates? 

To let Citi fail would have meant permitting its stockholders to lose a lot of money and social standing.   

Now we all know; that absolutely could not be permitted to happen.  Afterall, Congress should never be made to suffer the hardships of grass roots Americans who fight and die for freedom. 

The band ELCTRIKCHAIR and the amazingly accurate album 'Citicorpse' will never be credited for their incredible predictions but how perfect is that; when has any grass roots American ever been recognized for making a moral contribution? 

Our honorable U.S. military, past and present, are the deserving exception, for that; we are eternally grateful.   

The term "Citicorpse" was coined by ELCTRIKCHAIR, a perfidy [disgrace] of morally corrupt people, criminal corporate types,  the bitter disappointment of straying clergy and the repulsion of tarnished military brass who betray fellow U.S. citizens.  Individuals whose  proclamations are divine but whose deeds evidence an unwavering allegiance to  material gods. 

'Citicorpse' reminds us that the earthly battle between light and darkness rages on in perpetuity [without end].  "The last earthly sound they shall ever hear..." is the undeniable truth that; eternal light shall prevail.
